The ELQF Steering Group

Mandy Dennis has been employed as an Environmental Protection Officer with East Northamptonshire  Council since 2002 with a remit to deal with land contamination. She originally trained  as an analytical chemist in the cosmetics industry before moving onto research into  semi-conductors and the silicon chip revolution. On return to work after having children she went into civil engineering, mainly road building but also landfill design and quality assurance (materials testing and as site engineer). Prior to coming to East Northamptonshire Council she was with the Environment Agency from it’s inception in 1995 and worked as a field officer with particular responsibility for landfill construction and environmental monitoring.

IMG_0284.JPG Shaun Rowson is a Chartered Water and Environment Manager with over 20 years experience of protecting air, land and water within private and public sectors, having been a local authority regulator, environmental consultant/project manager and now a Team Leader in the Environment Agency’s Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire Groundwater and Contaminated Land Team. The principal work areas of the team are landfill engineering, groundwater quality and resource and contaminated land management. Shaun has an MSc in Contaminated Land Management from Nottingham University.

M Bell Marcus Bell is a Senior Consultant at EPS Ltd. He works on a range of contaminated land projects associated with brownfield redevelopment at EPS, often with waste and geotechnical aspects. His background includes 10years as a local authority regulator of contaminated land and air quality at East Cambs District Council where he was responsible for the implementation of the Part2a and planning regime, notably including the Part 2a investigation, determination and remediation of Littleport Gasworks. Marcus has worked in the contaminated land industry since 2002,  originally working for Arcadis, then AIG Remediation in 2004. Marcus holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Quality Management from Leicester’s De Montfort University (2009) as well as a Batchelor of Engineering Degree in Industrial Geology from Cambourne School of Mines (2002). Marcus is an Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (AIMEA).

Gavin Allsopp is employed by the National House Building Council since 2006 and is currently a Senior Environmental Engineer. He has worked in the contaminated land industry for 10 years, originally working for Casella Stanger before moving to Aylesbury Vale District Council to become a Contaminated Land Officer. He completed an MSc in Environmental Pollution in 2001. He is a member of Institute of Environmental Sciences and became a Chartered Environmentalist in 2011.

Colleen Nunn is a Principal Environmental Consultant at MLM Consulting Engineers Ltd. She has over 15 years professional experience in the investigation, assessment and remediation of contaminated land sites across the UK and has particular interest in waste classification, materials management and asbestos in soil. Colleen is a Chartered Geologist and a registered Qualified Person with respect to the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste: Development Industry Code of Practice (DoWCoP). Colleen holds a MSc in Environmental Biogeochemistry from the University of Newcastle, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (2000) and an undergraduate degree in Environmental Geoscience from University of Wales, Cardiff (1999).

26c9d74 Alex Brearley is the Director of agb Environmental Ltd, an East of England based company focusing on contaminated land, land management and land reclamation.  He has over 8 years experience in dealing with land management including the sustainable end use of mines and landfills.  Alex’s background is in Forestry in which he has a degree from the University of Edinburgh.  Alex joined the ELQF steering group in April 2011 and hosts the ELQF website.
